We voted on when and where to have our January 2019 Holiday Dinner.

Did You Know? On New Macs, the Hard Drive Icon is hidden on the desktop. There is no start-up chime anymore.
Did you also notice that even though english is read from left to right, the files on your desktop have always been set up right to left?

Updating notes:
Before updating, run Disk First Aid 2 times, then update siftware
The current software WILL require a Password when new, but does not affect “grandfathered” versions.
To wipe a Mac clean
Press Option, Command, “R” when booting up computer. This allows computer to reinstall software from the internet as opposed to a boot-up disc.
Reminder of the best Mac virus software:
- Malwarebytes – still free for 30 days, then only the premium features are disabled.
- AVG – Install it and then forget it. It runs in the background
- Bitdefender
Try to use all three; one of them may catch any virus
Have you noticed that the User Library folder is hidden now?
Install Mountain Tweaks to show Users Library. There’s a free and paid version. 
It shows you when you’re actually connected to the internet.
Clean My Mac – Not Free
Tip: Do not use Smart Scan. It just might delete large files that you want to keep. Also, don’t run Mail Attachments scan either.
Microsoft Office Notes:
Microsoft Office 11 will not be supported on High Sierra; though it might actually run on the system.
Microsoft Office 2019 is NEW! $265 will give you lifetime access to future updates.
If you have trouble opening up very old versions of Word documents, LibreOffice is a handy, free suite of programs that will open any Microsoft document. Here’s the info from a previous meeting:

Apple Watch
The new Series 4 Apple Watch has a safety feature for anyone 65 years and older. It can detect if you’ve fallen. Be sure to fill out your birthday in the set-up to activate it.
Q&A:
What do I do when a browser notifies me that my computer is infected? Stop! Force Quit the browser, then hold down “Shift” when relaunching the browser program. Then clear ALL HISTORY (in Preferences), Clear the Cache and quit the App. Then reopen normally.
